We’ve lived the first week of new timetables across the rail network, so how’s that going for the industry? Not as well as we might have expected. Triumph of Thameslink.” According to the Guardian, “Throughout the day, between half and a third of timetabled trains across the new enlarged network were being cancelled.” And it might not have been ideal for Go-Ahead to report healthy profits in the same week, either… But before we poke GTR (an A2B Excellence client) with a stick, let’s …

Solving the Executive Pay Challenge

The executive pay gap is at unprecedented levels. In the 1970s, pay in the C-Suite was at 10-30 times shop-floor levels. In 2015, it’s not unusual for top execs to earn 200+ times the pay of their workers in the engine room. And according to the CIPD, this is affecting employee motivation. They say that executive pay is at crisis point, not only because of the disparity, but also because there appears to be no link between pay and performance. On the other side of the pitch are the many stressed doctors and nurses, the creaking facilities (or new ones burdened by crippling PFI or PFI2 repayments) and the looming burden of an ageing population with inexorably growing healthcare needs. This match is why there is a steady trickle of stories in …

nick A2B People Leave a Comment

Many of you will already have met Cari, the newest on-the-ground consultant at A2B and settling in nicely. Despite having a frighteningly powerful intellect, she makes long meetings feel somehow more tolerable and also brings us a career’s-worth of public sector knowledge. But who, I hear you ask, is the person behind the mighty brain / cheery demeanour? Well, I’m glad you mentioned it…   What are you bringing to the table? You’ve squeezed a lot into a career already… Yup – I’m a lapsed mathematician who somehow found herself in events management, then internal communications and then digital engagement – all the …
